Universities which will use the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate admissions are required to register on the National Testing Agency (NTA) website, and for this they do not have to pay any fees, University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman M Jagdesh Kumar said on Monday.
The universities do not have to sign any memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the NTA or the UGC to use the entrance test, he added.
“Would like to clarify that when Universities adopt CUET for UG admissions, they only need to register on NTA website. Universities do not have to pay any fees to NTA/UGC and no need to sign an MoU with NTA/UGC,” Kumar tweeted.
“When students submit their CUET scores during admission, Universities can verify these scores against NTA data which will be made available to them. Universities can register at https://nta.ac.in/cuetexam,” he added.
Earlier today, the UGC chairman met vice-chancellors of 25 state-run universities in Karnataka who have agreed to use the test for the 2022-23 academic year.
“Today I had a meeting with Vice-Chancellors of 25 State Universities from Karnataka to discuss about Common University Entrance Test (CUET). The VCs have supported the introduction of CUET and have agreed to use CUET for admissions in BA, BSc, BCom and similar programmes,” the UGC chairman said.
While CUET is mandatory for UG admissions in central universities, it is for private, state and deemed universities to decide if they want to adopt the test.
The registration process for CUET 2022 for students will begin on April 6.
